Splash of Summer Color on San Juan Island. It's a Splash of Summer Color weekend for visitors to celebrate the fragrant harvest at the San Juan Island Lavender Festival, the fine art and crafts at the San Juan Island Summer Arts Fair and special guests, the Lummi Indian Artists, all scheduled the weekend of July 19 and 20.
The Lavender Festival is at Pelindaba Lavender Farm where visitors may choose among a variety of workshops, docent-led tours of lavish organic fields and the production center, or sample foods like lavender chocolate and vanilla ice cream and drinks made in the Pelindaba kitchen. Craft workshops welcome adults and children. Visit the Gatehouse with more than 130 handcrafted products. From 10am until 5pm, both days. Admission is free. (360 378-4248, www.pelindaba.com )
The Summer Arts Fair is on Court Street in Friday Harbor and features local and regional artists selling their works in a juried show. Music, children's hands on art activities, art demonstrations, a Farmers' Market and a pancake breakfast plus food court add to the weekend. 10:00 until 5:00 on Saturday and 10:00 until 4:00 on Sunday. About 25 Lummi Indian artists will be demonstration and selling their work nearby.

San Juan Island
The San Juan Islands are accessible to the public by water and air. The most common means of travel is by Washington State Ferry. See our directions page (click here) for more information.
On the east side of San Juan Island is the town of Friday Harbor, also the San Juan County Seat. Friday Harbor, a historic seaport, rises from the ferry landing and public marina where it is an easy stroll to the town's docks, parks, restaurants, shops, galleries, lodging facilities and business district.
On the north end of San Juan Island is another port of entry known as Roche Harbor Village. It is listed on the National Register of Historical Sites and is approximately ten miles from Friday Harbor. Roche Harbor has beautiful Victorian gardens, an airstrip, marina, lodging, grocery store, restaurants, sculpture park, shopping, water activities and local artists booths.
