Town of Friday Harbor Events
Wednesday, July 4 - All Day
Friday Harbor's 4th of July highlights include a small-town parade, a community picnic, live music, dancing and fireworks! The parade, known as one of the top 10 small town parades in the nation, passes through downtown Friday Harbor on Spring Street at 10:30 a.m. Immediately following the parade, the 'Pig War Picnic' put on by the Kiwanis, will be held at the corner of Spring Street and Price Street. Expect live music, games, great food and more! At dinner time, the Port of Friday Harbor will be putting on music in the Port of Friday Harbor parking lot.
Friday Harbor has the biggest and best Fireworks show beginning at dusk, approximately 10:00 p.m. We have commissioned, for the 4th year in a row, local talent Nick Gislason and the Lopez Community Fireworks, to design, setup, and fire the 2019 Friday Harbor 4th of July Fireworks Display. Lopez Community Fireworks is an all-Volunteer Team, with active members from Friday Harbor, Lopez and Orcas Islands. The group first banded together over 30 years ago to pursue pyrotechnics as their collective art form, with night sky as the canvas. The fireworks team has developed unique fireworks effects over the years that have garnered numerous awards at the Pyrotechnics Guild International Fireworks Competition, with a pyrotechnic style that is uniquely traditional.
The San Juan Island 4th of July Celebration is sponsored by San Juan Island Chamber of Commerce, Kings Market and Town of Friday Harbor. A special thank you to a generous matching grant of $35,000 from Kings Market and the lodging tax funds from the Town of Friday Harbor and the San Juan Island Chamber of Commerce Members!
Parade Applications are available at the Chamber Office, 165 1st St. S. Or Download here - Application Or email parade@sanjuanisland.org and we will send one your way.
